Polish State Archive in Przemy\u015bl<\/strong> is one of the very few archives in Poland that publish scanned resources on their own website. As of today the database contains over 1 million 100 thousand pages of archival documents. Besides vital records from Roman Catholic and Greek Catholic parishes and Jewish communities, it accommodates notarial acts, school documentation and maps of the region located in south east Poland.
\nThere is no name index, however if you know where your ancestors resided before leaving Poland, the collection will be of great help.<\/span><\/p>\n

How to use the database?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

1. Go to www.przemysl.ap.gov.pl\/skany<\/a>. The database is in Polish so you may wish to use google translator to translate the website.
\n2. From the drop-down menu in „Nazwa zespo\u0142u” field chose the archival unit you wish to view.
\nHere is a short glossary of main terms you may come across when searching the database:
\n– Akta c.k. notariusza \u2013 notarial acts (followed by name and surname of the notary)
\n– Akta miasta \u2013 municipal records
\n– Akta stanu cywilnego \u2013 civil registry records
\n– Parafii Grecko Katolickiej \u2013 of Greek Catholic parish
\n– Parafii Rzymsko Katolickiej \u2013 of Roman Catholic parish
\n– Szko\u0142a podstawowa \u2013 primary school
\n– Zbi\u00f3r map \u2013 maps collection
\n3. Leave other fields empty and click „szukaj”<\/em> (search) button.
\n4. Click on the signature number to view desired unit.
\n5. Use arrows located at the bottom of the page to move between pages within the unit.<\/p>\n
